Haryana Approves Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway After Two Decades Of Delay

Date:

In a pivotal development poised to reshape intercity travel across the National Capital Region (NCR), the Haryana government has officially sanctioned the long-delayed Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway—reviving a proposal first introduced nearly two decades ago by the Noida Authority.

This long-awaited approval, reported by The Economic Times on March 22, marks a decisive step in strengthening regional road infrastructure.

The expressway is set to eliminate the persistent connectivity void between Faridabad and Uttar Pradesh. Currently, commuters are forced to navigate Delhi’s heavily congested Kalindi Kunj corridor without a direct arterial route.

Beyond alleviating this bottleneck, the FNG Expressway will become the first direct transport link between Faridabad and Noida, unlocking seamless movement across these high-traffic urban hubs.

A crucial feature of the project is the construction of a 600-metre-long bridge over the Yamuna River near Lalpur village, with its financial burden to be equally divided between the governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

During Haryana’s budget discussions, Minister Vipul Goyal underscored the project’s strategic significance, highlighting that over one lakh commuters traverse daily between Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

By decongesting existing routes, slashing travel times, and fostering economic growth in adjacent districts, the expressway is expected to emerge as a transformative infrastructure milestone in the region.
