About Delhi Metro
The Delhi Metro is a mass rapid train system that serves Delhi and its surrounding cities such as Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida, and Bahadurgarh in the National Capital Region of India. The system has a total length of 350.42 kilometers (217.74 mi), with ten color-coded lines serving 256 stations. It is India’s oldest and largest metro rail service, the second oldest after the Kolkata Metro. The metro has underground, at-grade, and elevated stations, using broad-gauge and standard-gauge tracks. The metro runs over 4,300 trips daily.
Construction work began in 1998, and the first elevated section (Shahdara to Tis Hazari) on the Red Line opened on 25 December 2002. The first underground section (Vishwa Vidyalaya – Kashmere Gate) on the Yellow Line opened on 20 December 2004. The network was built in phases. Phase I (three lines) was completed by 2006 and Phase II by 2011. A short extension of Phase III, which was slated to open in 2023, was completed in 2021. Construction of Phase IV began on 30 December 2019.
Delhi Metro Timing
Services on the Delhi Metro route generally run from 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM. However, the timing of the first train at each station may vary slightly. The Airport line starts at 04:45 AM and runs till 11:30 PM.
Delhi Metro Fares
The fare from New Delhi Metro Station to IGI Airport or Dwarka Sector 21 is ₹60, which is ¢72. There are also 30 and 45 trips from New Delhi to IGI Airport, which cost ₹1,600 (US$19) and ₹2,000 (US$24). This is valid for a calendar month, so ₹53.33 (64¢) and ₹44.44 (53¢) per trip. Such fares are also available for other origin-destination combinations. Stored value cards are also available, which offer a 10% discount on every trip. These airport expresses are the cheapest option to reach the airport. For Rapid Metro to Gurgaon, a flat Rs 20 is charged. For the Airport metro the fare is from Rs 10 to Rs 70.

The DMRC began the bidding process for building the 65.1 km (and growing) Phase 4 new lines in mid-2019, and work on the first section began on 30 December 2019.
