Patna: In a major push to modernize Bihar’s infrastructure, the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved road projects worth ₹375.73 crore for Patna district. The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, is expected to not only ease traffic congestion but also give a strong boost to religious tourism in the Punpun area.

Key Infrastructure Projects Approved
Cable Suspension Bridge over Punpun River
- Cost: ₹82.99 crore
- Length & Width: 320 metres long, 11.5 metres wide
- Approach Roads: 115 metres on both sides
- Purpose: Designed to support four-wheelers and pedestrians, the bridge will make access to Punpun Pinddan Sthal more convenient for both locals and visiting pilgrims.
Chiraiyatand–Mithapur Flyover Link
- Cost: ₹292.74 crore
- Phase 1: Construction of a two-lane elevated rotary and Arm-1 towards Mithapur bypass
- Phase 2: Extension through Arm-2, linking the rotary to Chiraiyatand flyover
- Impact: Expected to ease traffic load on one of Patna’s busiest stretches and significantly cut travel time for daily commuters.
Leaders Welcome the Move
Road Construction Minister Nitin Navin praised the initiative, stating:
“These projects reflect the vision of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to modernize Bihar’s infrastructure. The new bridge and flyover will bring relief to daily commuters, enhance convenience for locals, and give a major boost to religious tourism in Punpun.”
