Mumbai-Hyderabad High-Speed Rail

The prospect of high-speed rail transit is making its way in India and one of the many projects that are happening is the Mumbai-Hyderabad High-Speed Rail project, which will make the journey between these two cities a lot faster and without any limitations.

The Mumbai-Hyderabad High-Speed Rail is a proposed high-speed rail line connecting India’s economic hub Mumbai with the city of Hyderabad. It is one of seven potential routes for the development of a high-speed rail network in India, as identified by the National Rail Plan (NRP). The NRP’s vision is to streamline a network between Mumbai and Hyderabad covering a distance of 709 km.

Although we don’t have any kind of confirmation this proposed bullet train line is not going to be done in the next decade or so, which means that the operation of this line will take some time.

At present, the megaproject is in its early stages of planning, which means that there’s a lot of time since things are finalized and the actual work kicks off. However, the completion of this project will have a significant impact on the economic and social development of both Mumbai and Hyderabad.

2. Hyderabad Regional Ring Road

The Hyderabad Regional Ring Road is another proposed 340 km 4-lane access-controlled expressway that will cover a few different towns around Hyderabad, including Sangareddy, Toopran, Choutuppal, Amangal, and Shankarpally.

The main prospect of this project is to strengthen the existing road network and add new stretches wherever linkages were found missing. National Highways Authority of India has included the Regional Ring Road in the pan-India Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-1. Besides connecting multiple districts across Telangana, the RRR will also connect different national highways, including NH 65, NH 44, NH 163, and NH 765.

The construction of this expressway will happen in two phases – north and south. Also, 50% of the project’s cost, including that of the land acquisition will be handled and taken care of by the state government. Besides that, the total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 17,000 crore.

We couldn’t find any insights regarding the project’s deadline yet, believing that NHAI has not been given one yet. The first phase of construction will cost Rs. 9,500 crore and the second phase will cost Rs. 6,480 crore.

The construction of this expressway will include four lanes, enabling the vehicles to run at a speed of up to 120 km/hr. The estimated deadline for the project is 2027. Not only will the expressway reduce travel time and make connectivity a lot more seamless, but the completion of the project will also reduce congestion by a lot.

The total estimated budget for the project is Rs. 14,666 crore and it is being undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It is being built under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).

It will be a 15.5-kilometer-long system with 16 stations, connecting Kazipet railway station to Warangal railway station through its suburbs.

The system will use 25-meter-long electric buses that will run on both elevated and at-grade sections. The buses will be powered by an overhead electrical (OHE) system on the elevated portions and use battery power while operating on the at-grade (road) sections.

As far as the reports go, the project is currently in its planning stage and the detailed project review is currently being assessed by the government. The estimated cost for the entire project is set to be Rs. 1100 crore and while the schedule suggests that it would be completed in three years after the construction starts, there’s no confirmation yet.
