The Australian government has officially released the first tenders for the initial phase of the ambitious Direct Sunshine Coast (DSC) Rail Line project in Queensland. According to the official statement, “Two tenders for the major rail project have just been released, enabling detailed quotes to be sought from the construction industry in 2025 ahead of major construction in 2026, subject to approvals.” This stage is a crucial milestone, setting the groundwork for the extensive construction activities that will follow.
The first phase of the project focuses on a 19-kilometer rail link between Beerwah and Caloundra. This segment will include the construction of two brand-new stations at Aura and Caloundra, as well as upgrades to the existing Beerwah station. In addition, the Australian government has announced that geotechnical investigations are scheduled to commence between Beerwah and Birtinya in August 2024.
