Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: Ahmedabad Station Nears Completion, Sabarmati Work Progressing Fast

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is making substantial headway in Ahmedabad, with major structural components of the Ahmedabad station nearing completion. Meanwhile, construction at the Sabarmati station is progressing steadily, according to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

As the implementing body for the ambitious 508-kilometer high-speed rail corridor, NHSRCL underscores that the project will not only enhance regional connectivity but also stimulate economic growth along the route.

Ahmedabad is the only city along the corridor to feature two bullet train stations—Ahmedabad and Sabarmati. Both stations are being designed for seamless integration with Indian Railways, metro networks, and bus services, ensuring smooth multimodal connectivity for passengers.

Adding to this infrastructure is the Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub, situated on the eastern side of the Sabarmati Bullet Train station. This hub is set to further bolster connectivity while fostering commercial development in the region.

Key Developments at Ahmedabad and Sabarmati Stations

The Ahmedabad Bullet Train station is strategically positioned above platforms 10, 11, and 12 of the Western Railway. Commuters will have direct access to the Kalupur Metro Station via lifts, stairs, and escalators, enhancing last-mile connectivity.

“The station’s primary structural framework, encompassing the concourse, rail, and platform slabs, is nearing completion, with finishing works currently in progress,” NHSRCL stated.

Simultaneously, the Sabarmati terminal station is taking shape within the existing Sabarmati railway yard. This facility will be fully integrated with Indian Railways, the multimodal transport hub, metro stations, and nearby bus stops.

“Structural advancements at the station are moving forward consistently, with platform-level construction currently underway,” NHSRCL confirmed.

Engineering Innovations and Alignment Details

The 26-kilometer bullet train alignment in Ahmedabad traverses key commercial districts and includes 31 crossings, six of which are steel bridges. Advanced engineering techniques are being utilized for viaduct construction, ensuring rapid and precise execution.
