US-founded, Italy-based New Holland Construction (a brand of CNH Industrial) has entered a new equipment category with the launch of the E70D MIDI excavator.
The new machine is set to make its North American debut at the 2024 Farm Progress Show in Iowa, USA, from August 27-29.
New Holland said its first midi excavator, with a maximum power of 60.2 horsepower (44.3 kW) and an operating weight of 16,072 pounds (7,290 kg), is “carefully crafted to excel in tight spaces where larger machines simply won’t work.”
“Ideal for small and medium-sized contractors, landscapers, municipalities and farmers, the E70D easily handles a variety of tasks, from digging and grading to material handling,” New Holland added.
The E70D is powered by a turbocharged Kubota V2607-CR-T four-stroke, four-cylinder, direct-injection diesel engine that meets EPA Tier 4/EU Stage V emission standards. The monoboom has a transport length of 6.1 m, a ground reach of 6.6 m, a dump height of just over 4.4 m, and a digging depth of just over 4 m. The tail of the machine has a turning radius of almost 2 m. It is 7 meters high, 2.1 meters wide, and 36 centimeters above ground.
“This machine doesn’t just get the job done, it changes the way you do it with its enormous digging force, hydraulic power, lifting capacity, and car,” said Dan Cakareka, product manager, New Holland Construction North America. With its style cabin design, the E70D redefines the expectations of agricultural and construction operators to achieve new levels of performance and efficiency. ”
New Holland said that in developing the brand’s first medium-sized excavator, in addition to machine performance, they focused on three key features: safety, customizable features, and technology. “Safety was our number one priority,” New Holland acknowledged, noting that the E70D is equipped with LED lighting, standard reversing warning and a rearview camera for improved visibility inside the cab.
New Holland said, “In the cab, drivers can enjoy a spacious and comfortable environment with adjustable heated seats and an advanced climate control system that keeps them comfortable even on long drives.”
In terms of attachments, the company said the Midi can be equipped with shovels, augers, grapples, mulchers and more. A counterweight of up to 500kg also adds stability.
“Operators can also adjust the joystick sensitivity and hydraulic response to their personal preferences, ensuring smooth and efficient operation at all times,” New Holland said. Tech features include standard telematics and a five-year subscription for real-time machine tracking, diagnostics and performance monitoring. The E70D also features an automatic lubrication system, which New Holland says simplifies maintenance and reduces the need for manual intervention.
