Indian Government To Conduct Feasibility Studies For Bullet Trains Across Country Soon

The government has decided to Conduct feasibility studies of bullet train corridors in the eastern, southern, and northern parts of India. Said President Draupadi Murmu in a joint session of Parliament yesterday (June 27).

She stressed that these studies reflect the government’s commitment to enhance connectivity and promote economic progress through advanced transport systems.

President Murmu also talked about the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project, which is developing rapidly. “Work on the High-Speed Rail Ecosystem between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is also progressing at a rapid pace,” she said.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is an infrastructure marvel with 12 stations, 24 river bridges, eight mountain tunnels, and one undersea tunnel over a distance of 508 km. It is being implemented by The National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

The high-speed rail will pass through western India at a speed of 320 kmph and cover the 508.17 km distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in just two hours.

The journey between the two terminal stations will save about nine hours by bus or about six hours by conventional railway.

The NHSRCL has projected completion of The first phase between Surat and Bilimora to be completed by August 2026.

The feasibility study for the new bullet train corridor is expected to further improve India’s rail infrastructure, contributing to the vision of a more connected and economically thriving country.

President Murmu in her speech also emphasized the extensive efforts made by the government to develop the public transport system in India. “In 10 years, the metro has reached 21 cities,” Financial Express reported.
