Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar announced the state government’s decision to build 17 elevated corridors on the city’s main roads, which will ease traffic congestion.
The mega project aims to make over 100 km of roads signal-free corridors in addition to the proposed tunnel road. The project will cost around Rs 12,000 crore.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has made a tentative list of locations after a traffic congestion survey.
Although the funding details are still unclear, sources have suggested a phased system to be implemented over the next four years, prioritizing four to five corridors every year.
The proposed corridor is a 23-km stretch from K R Puram to Goraguntepalya, passing through Old Madras Road, Ulsoor Lake, Jayamahal Road, Mekhri Circle, and Yeshwantpur.
Also, the Anand Rao Circle flyover will be extended to K R Circle, the Ejipura flyover to Hosur Road, and a new flyover from Hudson Circle to Minerva Circle, reports Deccan Herald.
According to reports, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has created a new mobile app called Raste Gundi Gamana (Fix Potholes) that allows people to report potholes in their neighborhood.
The app aims to speed up pothole-filling work in the city. It complements the current Fix My Street app, which faces several complaints but is dedicated exclusively to potholes.
